Tathra Homestead produces extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is the natural oil (freshly squeezed) from quality olives that have been picked straight off the tree and processed as soon as possible without the use of any chemical, or excessive heat, which ensures that the oil’s remarkable health benefits, flavour and freshness are maximised.
The olives are grown on the family’s property near Kapunda, South Australia, on the Western side of the Barossa Valley. ‘Tathra’ is an aboriginal word meaning ‘beautiful country’. The family has been at Tathra Homestead since 1991 and has reintroduced both plant and animal biodiversity to the property, while planting the olive grove.
Tathra Homestead is a signatory to the Australian Olive Association Code of Practice. The Code of Practice (COP) aims to guarantee the authenticity and quality of certified products and distinguish them from imported products.
